Wellbeing Committee 2020/2021

A wellbeing committee was formed recently in St John's SNS under the guidance of Ms. Ormond and Ms. Lane. The committee comprises of six 6th class students-Isla McEvoy, Amy Joyce, Sajeevi Vihan Munasinghe, Michaela Godkin, Sinead O' Neill and Jack Killeen. The committee's work will be based upon the wellbeing in primary school documents published by the Department of Education and Skills. Our aim will be to build on the existing good practices in St John's SNS and work with parents, staff, pupils, Ms. Loughlin and the Board of Management to promote and improve wellbeing in our whole school community. Wellbeing encompasses physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual and intellectual health and is very important in daily life in a school. We will promote a sense of wellbeing in which all members of the school community will be encouraged to recognise their own abilities, cope with the normal stresses of daily life and complete work to the best of their ability to contribute to their own wellbeing and that of the whole school community. These students on the wellbeing committee, working with their respective year groups, will inform policies such as the SPHE policy and will ensure the student voice is represented in policy and in practice in the school by communicating with all students.
